Is it possible to pause or turn instances on and off when not needed without have to create a new one?

Currently our instances are ephemeral, so we don’t have the ability to pause/suspend instances just yet.
Once our persistent storage is battle tested and fully released, we plan to work on support for persisting of the root image / pausing and restoring instances.
