IT Justification

Hi,

A question for IT people is really on how to justify the cost of purchasing the Lambda laptops. Any ideas?

Thanks,
Yash.

Really easy. Go to GCP or AWS. Find out the type of GPU compute instance you need. Remember, the TensorBook has 64G of memory. For me, it’s about $400/month and I run models constantly. My Lambda laptop cost ~$4,000. So the payback in this case is ~10 months.

There’s a bigger benefit. With the Lambda laptop I run PyCharm and can set breakpoints and inspect variables to debug my models. This saves tons of time over logging and printing.

Good luck.

This really is a non-issue should there be enough demand for compute power. Anyone will quickly notice that purchasing your own hardware is much cheaper in the long run especially compared to, as mentioned by the comment before mine, GCP or AWS.

Thank you all, That’s a valid point. I have checked the prices and indeed, within a year, it pays off.
