Ubuntu: Disable Nouveau Drivers via GRUB

To disable nouveau drivers, you must add nouveau.modeset=0 as a kernel parameter to your boot configuration. To do so, reboot your computer repeatedly while tapping ESC. This will bring up the GRUB menu:

Press the “e” key. This will open a boot configuration editor. You want to add nouveau.modeset=0 as a kernel parameter. The line you’ll be adding this to will begin with “linux”:

Press F10 to boot.
